DRONACHARYA AWARDS




Instituted in 1985, the Dronacharya award honours reputed coaches who have successfully coached sportspersons and teams helping them accomplish outstanding results in International competitions.

The recipient of this award is given a statuette of guru Dronacharya, a cash prize of rs.5 lak, a ceremonial dress,and a scroll of honour.

ARJUNA AWARDS






Instituted in 1961,the Arjuna Awards are given in honour of outstanding performances in Sports and Games. The Government has recently revised the scheme for the Arjuna Awards. According to revised guidelines, a Sportsperson, in order to be eligible for this award, Should not only Perform consistently for the previous three years at the  International level while excelling for the year in which the award is given, but also exhibit qualities of sportsmanship, leadership and discipline. The award consists of statuette, a cash award of rs.5lakhs,a scroll of honour and a ceremonial dress.                                                 by current affairs

Bharat Ratna







The Bharat Ratna is India"s highest civilian honor. It is generally conferred on 26 January every year for rendering outstanding services to the world community. The award was instituted by the President of India on 2 January 1954.The Bharat Ratna medallion is made of bronze and shaped like a pipal leaf. The ribbon is white in colour. The replica of the sun with radiating rays can be seen on the obverse of the medallion with the words "Bharat Ratna" inscribed beneath it. Our National Emblem (The Lion Capital of Sarnath) is embossed on the reverse with the motto " Satyameva jayate" (only truth shall prevail).The award can also be granted posthumously . The awards are produced at the Kolkata Mint.

     Bharat Ratna till now given in Literature, Arts, Science and Social Activities and Sports. The changes have been made to include sports in the above categories.
